Therefore I dressed accordingly.
Top - Topshop, Skirt - Dorothy Perkins, Shoes - Accessorize |
The only reason I was in any way happy about the weather was that it gave me an excuse to wear my new skirt - I really love the chevron pattern and as I'm quite tall I think the midi length works quite well. My friend had given me a gift card for Dorothy Perkins last birthday, and as this was already in the 30% off range I only actually had to spend £1.50 of my own money on it. I like that it's black and white because it makes it a lot easier to wear with things. Plus the swishyness means I can do this with it:
The shoes are basically just ballet pumps, but being a magpie I love anything shiny. I used to have a pair of these in a coral colour and I wore them pretty much all summer long until they wore out, and I've never found a pair of pumps that fit me better. I quite like the rose gold colour too, I'm not a fan of it on jewelery, but for metallic footwear I'm a fan.
The crop top is something that if you told me I'd wear a few months ago I'd have laughed in your face. Pretty much every year at about this time, when summer clothing gets more revealing I tend to go through a bit of a body confidence crisis. That is, until this year. Previously I've always felt very self conscious about my midriff, but since getting more involved and informed about the feminist movement, I'm certainly starting to embrace a 'f*** it' attitude to what I 'should' wear and what I 'shouldn't'. I like the style, and I shouldn't let anyone's opinions on my appearance stop me from experimenting with fashion, especially my own.
Anyway, that's all for today. I went out shopping and bought quite a few things, so I'll make a few posts about that in the next few days.
